FAQS
What is dWallet?
A dWallet is a data wallet to help you manage the value of your data. It lets you own, save, exchange, invest, and benefit from the value of the data you generate every day. With a dWallet, you can request your data from the companies you interact with, apply for a Data Savings Plan, and use it for personal, professional, and financial reasons, all with a secure way to keep it protected and under your control.
Why do I need a dWallet?
The economy is becoming a data economy. Your dWallet gives you a place in it. Think about your money. You keep it in an account you control. You can save, move, invest, spend, or use your money to benefit yourself, your family, and the world around you. Your data should work the same way.
Today, your data lives across the cloud, where companies control it and benefit from its value. A dWallet changes that. It puts the data you generate every day back in your hands, so you can own, save, control, and benefit from its value. Your money has a wallet. Now your data does too.
What is a Data Savings Plan?
A Data Savings Plan (DSP) is a data-backed financial instrument that builds data wealth, as traditional savings plans build wealth from money. With a DSP the data you generate and contribute is owned by you, and you can save, and benefit from the value it generates.
The plan defines how data contributions are governed, how they may be used, and how value generated from them is tracked and allocated. Data is treated as a resource that can be saved and managed within a defined financial and governance structure. And in the DSP you set and control preferences so the plan operates under terms you define.
How does a Data Savings Plan generate value?
A Data Savings Plan (DSP) generates value by allocating your data contributions into monetization use cases, and companies pay to license data. Nothing is allocated without your approval. The value of your data has the potential to grow over time, so the more data you contribute and the earlier you start, the more value you will have.
In your DSP, you set up an exit payment account, and the accumulated cash value can be transferred to that account. Alternatively, the DSP can be integrated with other solutions that align with your financial goals, such as investing in education, retirement, or paying down your loans.
How much is my data worth?
Your data has value. Companies already make money from it, but today, you don’t get a share. Data Savings is designed so that a portion of the value your data generates comes back to you.
What you can earn depends on owning and saving your data: what you choose to contribute and what you are open to licensing. Value builds from the moment you start saving, so if you have zero data saved, your data is worth zero. Over time, your contributions increase and so does the number of use cases, so the value of your data tends to grow exponentially.
Why would a company pay for something it currently gets free?
Because it was never free – you paid for it. The phone, the data plan, the electricity, the time. Companies collect data at no cost to themselves because the cost sits with you.
So the real question isn’t why a company would pay. It’s what it gets in return. On a DSP, the data you choose to contribute is combined with certified data from other participants, which makes all of it more valuable. Better data means higher revenue, lower operating costs, and less compliance risk. And it gives companies something free data never could: a direct, trusted relationship with the people behind the data. That trust comes from being transparent about what’s collected and from returning a share of the value to the person who created it.
Does DrumWave sell my data?
No. Your data stays where it already is. DrumWave never holds your data, only the value it generates, like a bank that holds your money but does not own it.
Your Data Savings Plan holds Data Certificates that represent your data and its value. Nothing happens with them without your approval.
Is my data safe?
Yes. Your dWallet protects your data using robust industry-standard security protocols and encryption methods, ensuring to keep your data protected and under your control. Because your dWallet is non-custodial, you don’t hand control of your data to someone else. You decide what comes into your wallet, what goes out, and when your data is used. Your data stays yours. Protected like your money. Controlled by you.
